The goals of ASM program are:
1) To reduce injuries and fatalities to motorcyclists at the scene of a motorcycle crash;
2) To reduce rescuer injury at the scene of a crash;
3) To enhance the effectiveness of the EMS by having trained bystanders tend to the injured until professional help arrives.

A simple formula is taught to make recall of basic information easier:
P = Prevent Further Injury
A = Assess the Situation
C = Contact the EMS
T = Treat the injured with Life Sustaining

Care using the ABCS of trauma:
A = Airway (Jaw Thrust)
B = Rescue Breathing
C = Control Bleeding
   - bleeding you can see
   - treat for shock
S = Spinal Immobilization

This Bystander Assistance Program (BAP) is a one-day community education program directed toward motorcycle riders and passers-by. The concept of the program is directed specifically toward the assessment and treatment of the injured rider as well as how to safely administer care. This course will provide the participant with a heightened awareness of:
   - Safety Factors
   - Securing the Crash Scene
   - Mechanisms of Injury
   - Effectively Accessing the EMS
   - Assessment and Treatment Techniques
   - Common Injuries Associated with the Injured Rider
   - Preservation of the Crash Scene from a Legal Standpoint
   - Protecting yourself legally & financially
